Collected debris foraged from demolition sites throughout East Austin
The foraged remnants comprising this work represent the disappearance of character in gentrified communities. They stand in defiance towards market factors and other catalysts that deem a neighborhood worthy of exploitation and eventual transformation. They are homages to felled communities and a posthumous forewarning that it is not just a house that was demolished and replaced. Development does not imply progress; it implies change and all but guarantees exile for those that initially make a community attractive enough to sell.
